Private Endometriosis Care in Essex — Mr Masood MRCOG

Mr Mohammad Masood is a Consultant Gynaecologist and endometriosis specialist offering private endometriosis diagnosis and surgical treatment at clinics in Hornchurch, Brentwood, Ilford, and Romford. If you are experiencing symptoms of endometriosis in Essex or East London and want fast access to an expert, Mr Masood offers prompt appointments without long NHS waiting times.

As a surgeon with over thirty years of experience in laparoscopic gynaecology, and with active involvement in endometriosis multidisciplinary team (MDT) working, Mr Masood brings exceptional expertise to the assessment and treatment of endometriosis — including complex and severe cases.

What is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a chronic condition in which tissue similar to the womb lining grows outside the uterus — most commonly on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, and pelvic peritoneum. It affects approximately 1 in 10 women of reproductive age and is one of the leading causes of pelvic pain, painful periods, and difficulty conceiving.

Despite its prevalence, endometriosis is frequently diagnosed late — with an average delay of eight years from symptom onset to diagnosis. Private specialist assessment with Mr Masood can significantly shorten this journey.

Symptoms — When to Seek Help

You may benefit from a private endometriosis consultation if you experience:

  • Severe period pain (dysmenorrhoea) not controlled by pain relief
  • Chronic pelvic pain — throughout the month, not just during periods
  • Pain during or after sexual intercourse (dyspareunia)
  • Pain when opening your bowels or passing urine, especially during periods
  • Heavy or irregular periods
  • Bloating (‘endo belly’)
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty conceiving

Diagnosis of Endometriosis

Mr Masood takes a thorough history and performs a clinical examination. He may arrange a pelvic ultrasound scan or MRI. A definitive diagnosis of endometriosis requires laparoscopy — a minimally invasive keyhole operation under general anaesthetic. Mr Masood is a trainer-level laparoscopic surgeon, making him exceptionally well-placed to both diagnose and treat endometriosis surgically in the same procedure.

Treatment Options

Treatment depends on the severity of the endometriosis, your symptoms, and your fertility plans. Mr Masood will discuss all options at your consultation:

  • Medical management — hormonal treatments, the pill, progestogens, GnRH analogues
  • Laparoscopic surgery — excision or ablation of endometriotic deposits
  • Treatment of endometriomas (ovarian cysts caused by endometriosis)
  • Deep infiltrating endometriosis surgery — with MDT support where required
